Affiliated Community Funds
In 1999 the Foundation
began working with citizens to encourage the
establishment of permanent funds that would
benefit local communities for generations to
come. In several cities, members of a local
board were recruited and funds were established.
Existing community foundations were encouraged
to participate as well. Each fund's local board
of directors recommends the distribution of
funds through grants awarded by the Foundation.
In addition, locally initiated donor advised,
scholarship and designated funds are affiliated
with their respective community fund.
This program has been
made possible through the generous support of
the Otto Bremer Foundation.
These funds and their
affiliated individual funds already hold nearly
$995,000 in permanent assets that will benefit
local programs, projects and students.
